Seeing Stars in the Soil and the Sky

Acrylic on panel

12″ x 12″

Under the Alaskan midnight sun harvesters uncover stars from the soil. Buried along with bits of tuber, the sea stars’ calcium, magnesium, and phosphate fuel the growth of the potatoes. The pointy skeletons add a dose of whimsical treachery to the recovery of the potatoes from deep within the darkness.
